At the Wanaki Treatment Center one of the main goals is to always strive towards providing the best quality of services for our residents and team of staff. We as an organization have come to learn how much working with Accreditation Canada is a positive and effective tool to implement into the culture of our operations as a First Nations organization.
Since January 2016, we have implemented an Accreditation Coordinator position at the Wanaki Treatment Center to help keep our team and organization on track with the Accreditation Qmentum cycle.
Accreditation Canada develops the accreditation program with the expertise of leaders in health care who are its advisors and surveyors. They help Accreditation Canada to guide health professionals in their quest to ensure Canadians are receiving the highest quality in health care services possible. Organizations accredited by Accreditation Canada are the front runners in Canada health care and services. Accreditation Canada’s guidance has been helping organizations strive for excellence for close to 50 years.
The Wanaki Treatment Center works with and is evaluated on the following 5 Accreditation Standards; Governance, Leadership, Infection Prevention Control, Medication Management, and Substance Misuse. A certain amount of administrative days are set aside throughout the year to allow our coordinator to facilitate the necessary quality improvement activities and trainings necessary.
With on going policy analysis and revisions, risk management data analysis, trend reports and work place safety trainings, we at the Wanaki center are setting a great example at how to operate and grow as a leading rehabilitation center in Canada. In June 2017 we experienced our on-site survey and are proud to announce that our center remains accredited, we are working hard at getting ready for our next on-site survey in 2021.
